Dr. Ousmane Bakary Bâ is a bilingual Registered Social Worker with over 30 years of experience providing counselling and psychotherapy in Canada and internationally. He holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, a Master’s Degree in Psychopathology, a PhD in Sociology-Anthropology, and two postdoctoral fellowships in Mental Health. His interdisciplinary background enables him to provide compassionate, culturally responsive, and evidence-based care.

Dr. Bâ works with individuals, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, relationship challenges, life transitions, addiction, and other mental health concerns. He has particular expertise in supporting refugees, immigrants, and survivors of war and violence who are navigating trauma, cultural loss, resettlement, and adjustment.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Bâ is a professor, researcher, and author who has taught Clinical Social Work and Mental Health at Canadian universities. He has also led psychosocial support initiatives for survivors of genocide and armed conflict in Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Bosnia, and Cambodia. He continues to serve as an Affiliated Professor at the Mauro Centre for Peace and Justice at the University of Manitoba.

Dr. Bâ draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Narrative Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Cross-Cultural Therapy. He believes that healing involves caring for the whole person—not simply treating symptoms—and is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where clients can build resilience, restore hope, and move toward meaningful change.
